Android playlist widget naming [#19641] [#19669]
When I create a playlist widget, it shows on the main screen with the playlist name under it. By the next day, it loses the name and reverts to the icon with "mediamonkey" under it. The widget still works, just no longer has the name.
I am currently running android 12 on a moto 5g, but It was the same on my last moto phone running 10 and 11.

Re: Android playlist widget naming
Update... Updated to the beta version 2.0.0.1054 and now I am unable to create any playlist widgets on the home screen. As I drag it to the home screen, it just flashes and disappears.
When I tried the widget from the previous version, it reports app not installed, same as reported in another thread.
I will also be moving back to the 1.4xxxx version, as it works, just does not have a name.

And we are back at square one. Next day all of my playlist widgets are back to being nameless... All are labeled "Mediamonkey", even the sync icon.
Yes, they all still work, but the names are gone.

Hi,
Interesting I wonder if some sort of app on your device trigger that. Have you tried to see when Playlist shortcut names are ok an dthen you restart phone? Are they correctly named or they revert default name?

Re: Android playlist widget naming [#19641]
Yes, I just tried... it does seem to loose the name after a reboot. But something else is also causing as it had previously not rebooted for the last 6 days.
I then tried it on my Lenovo tablet running ver 2.2.2.1056 with Android 10... reboot does NOT change it.
Next broke out my old Moto g power (2019), android 11. This one always had the same problem, but just updated to the beta ver 2.2.2.1056, and a reboot wiped the name.
Both phones are running the factory Moto launcher. I own Nova launcher so I tried that. No change!
So something with the Moto launcher?

Hi,
Hmmm, possibly, I have Moto X4 on Android 9 an do not have such issue.
Can you do these steps, maybe it will show us something:\
1. Create shortcut
2. Verify Name is OK -> Tap to play
3. Use ☰ -> Tap Logo -> Send logs -> Write log id here
4. Restart Phone
5. Verify Name is bad -> Tap to play
6. Use ☰ -> Tap Logo -> Send logs -> Write log id here
Lets hope that name is parsed by OS so that we can see in log what is going on.
Additionally it could be useful to see if same thing happen for other apps.

Re: Android playlist widget naming [#19641]
Created 4 widgets, including sync. All work
First log... WIMCENBPUG
Reboot.. all renamed, but still working
Second log... BBNSZD8W6W
EDIT: I took screenshots, and sent link via PM.
And yes, widgets have ALWAYS worked... previously I just put them in order so I knew what to pick.

Hi,
I tried again and can't replicate, but I opened https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=19669 for tracking this case.
I cut out pics so that only Widgets from pics you sent me are shown, but set it so that only devs can see them.
Thank you for the logs and pics, I hope it will show us what can cause the issue for you.

Re: Android playlist widget naming [#19641] [#19669]
Just updated to build 1057... Widget names survived the reboot!
Also noticed the new procedure for adding the widget to desktop as well as the new icon. Nice job!
I will report back in a few days to see if it holds.
Thanks!
